Hello,
If you've had a chance to read Jim McGregor's May Runner Spotlight on our website, you may have noticed that he doesn't like to toot his own horn. I told Jim he would be a terrible ESPN interview because he doesn't want to give out any information. I don't think Oprah could even crack that egg. This is what I can tell you about Jim; he's the King of the Wasatch Front Mountain Range. In 1996, and on a whim, Jim entered and ran his first Wasatch 100. Since then Jim has finished Wasatch 10 consecutive times with his fastest finishing time being 30:13 - that's 30 hours and 13 minutes. I don't want to you to think it's the Wasatch 100 meter dash. It's 100 miles from Layton to the Homestead (Midway) across some of most treacherous terrain in Utah. Wasatch is touted as one of the toughest 100 milers in the Nation and Jim has mastered it. On the Wasatch course Jim knows exactly when to run hard, when to walk, when to sleep and when to eat. In the 27 years Wasatch has been running, Jim is one of only about 31 people in the world that have finished Wasatch more than 10 times - that is incredible. Besides countless hours every year training in the hills; Jim will run all the Utah marathons, (including St. George which is less than a month after Wasatch), three 50 mile races and maybe a ½ marathon or two if he needs to get some speed work in. Jim's an inspiration to many ultra-marathoners and we're fortunate to know him. Please check-out Jim's profile at www.stridersrunning.com or visit www.wasatch100.com to see a history of Jim's finishes.
If you're in need of a nice and easy training run before the Ogden Marathon; we're planning a 10 mile run this Saturday, May 10th at 7:00am at the Jensen Park in Syracuse. The Jensen Nature Park is the setting for the Memorial Day ½ Marathon this year, so this training run is a great introduction to the course. The Jensen Park on Bluff Road in Syracuse between 1000 W and 2000 W. Please call Striders if you need directions. Water and Gatorade will be provided and anyone is welcome to come out and run.

We're very excited for the Ogden Marathon on May 17th. Hopefully your training has gone well and you're all ready to run well in either the marathon, ½ marathon or relay. The event is all sold out except for the 5K, but that race is closing in on capacity as well and will likely sell out in the next week or so. The 2008 Ogden Marathon will be the biggest to date and the GOAL Foundation is still in need of volunteers. If you're interested in helping a world class organization with a world class event, please register as a volunteer at www.ogdenmarathon.com You won't regret it and the running God's will bless you with injury free running for the rest of your days.
That's all for now but stay tuned for an announcement as Striders looks to expand..
Thanks,
John & Kristin Wojciechowski
